May 15, 2025 --- ![](https://www.cecollaboratory.com/hs-fs/hubfs/IU-Box-1024x867.png?width=381&height=322&name=IU-Box-1024x867.png)Indiana University (IU) is a multi-campus public university system with over 90,000 students across Indiana.  As a Carnegie-classified institution with a strong commitment to public engagement, IU has long been dedicated to fostering partnerships that enhance educational access and student success.  Using Collaboratory since 2017, IU leverages Collaboratory’s data capabilities to streamline and scale its community engagement efforts, particularly in K-12 education. ### The Challenge IU needed a scalable, data-driven solution to effectively track and analyze its K-12 engagement initiatives across its 7 campuses.  Without a centralized system, it was difficult to assess the impact of its K-12 partnerships, align efforts with institutional priorities, and integrate engagement data with other key metrics such as public funding and student college-going rates.  IU required a solution that could consolidate complex data, surface insights, and support strategic decision-making at both the individual campus and system levels. ### The Solution By leveraging Collaboratory, IU has transformed how it tracks, analyzes, and utilizes data related to its K-12 engagement, enabling more informed decision-making and strategic alignment: - Visualizing K-12 Engagement Data Collaboratory enables IU to [analyze their K-12 partnerships](https://cecollaboratory.com/webinars/bridging-and-visualizing-institutional-k-12-engagement-data-with-collaboratory/) and understand them alongside key demographic indicators, such as students’ free/reduced lunch eligibility and underrepresented racial minority status.  These insights help IU pinpoint areas where resources are most needed, ensuring more equitable access to university support and outreach programs. - Strengthening College-Going Pathways With Collaboratory, IU can analyze the impact of its K-12 engagement on students’ postsecondary matriculation into IU’s seven campuses.  Data visualizations reveal correlations between engagement activities and college choices, helping IU assess how its initiatives influence enrollment at Indiana public colleges. - Strategic Alignment with IU 2030 Plan IU utilizes Collaboratory data to support its [2030 Strategic Plan](https://strategicplan.iu.edu/index.html) by aligning engagement initiatives with institutional priorities, such as expanding educational access and fostering economic mobility.  The data-driven approach ensures that IU’s partnerships contribute directly to broader university goals. “Collaboratory has given us the ability to bridge the gap between our K-12 engagement efforts and the broader institutional mission.
